New in Store: The Electra

Elecrta in Gold Leaf
We have just put up the Electra chandelier in the showroom, I am in love with this fixture. I love the gold leaf finish (it is also available in an aged silver leaf finish) and the design.
How would I use this gorgeous Electra fixture?
Below are a few inspiration photos of similar fixtures used in stunning interiors.

Fridays Favorite: FANZZZZ

Every year Minka Aire blows me away with their cool designs and this year is no exception. Here are a few of my top picks from the new fans:
This first one is 84" wing spread! The Slipstream is HUGE!!! You may need to come in just to see the scale of this fan. It is also available in a 65" diameter and they come in multiple finishes.

This is the new Light Wave, The Wave has been a standing favorite for years, and now they make it with a LED light.

The Pancake looks like, well, a pancake. This was designed by one of the youngest designers in the industry, Minka Aire wanted a fan that would get the attention of a new generation of customers- this is one of the smallest, if not the smallest, motor housing you can find in a fan. To get the motor this small the standard fan motor was re-created to accommodate this unique design. As I said before I am very impressed.

And the next few fans may not be brand new but they are still very note worthy, and we have them up on display so come check them out in person!

The second we put the Dyno on display I was impressed, the light quality of this LED is better than any other I have seen. And for $199.95 I don't think you can find a better deal! the Dyno is available in 3 finishes, clink the caption below for more information.

Don't forget the tried and tested Concept series, these have been a best seller for years. I put a concept II in my bedroom in 2004 and 10 years later we still can't keep them in stock.

A New Lighting Guide

Littman Brands has published a new lighting Look Book this is a very helpful guide into lighting and design.
The look book details different design styles and gives great tips on how to create and place lighting for every room in your home.
Some useful tips include how to create 3 layers of lighting: Ambient, task and accent.
Ambient lighting or the base layer of a room can be determined by multiplying the square footage of a room by 1.5 the total number will be the minimum amount of incandescent watts required to illuminate a room.
Task lighting is to illuminate activities in your room, to figure out the amount of light you need take the square footage of the task area and times it by 2.5. Use this equation in the kitchen where you will be doing food prep, or near the vanity where you will need extra light for grooming.
Accent light should illuminate the space with 3 times more light than the surrounding area. An accent areas is a something you want to draw extra attention to, like art, with a picture light, or an architectural element in the room like a fireplace or a special feature.
Other tips include how to find the right size fixture for every room and where to hang them.
