A Gorgeous interior and a Happy New Year!

Photos from Harper's Bazaar
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

This apartment is gorgeous it's featured in the January issue of Harper's Bazaar, it belongs to the Perrin Family. I absolutely adore the crown molding and the ceiling medallion in the dining area. Not to mention the crystal chandeliers in both the photos. I wish I was ringing in the new year surrounded by such beauty.

FAQ Answered: How Much Light do I Need in a Room?

One of the questions we are asked on a regular basis is how much light do I need in a room?
There is a simple equation to use that will determine how much light will be sufficient:
Multiply the length x the width of the room in feet
then multiply it again 1.5 times
for example if your room is 12' in length x 16' in width
12 x 16 =192
192 x 1.5=288
So you would need approximately 288 watts of light to adequately illuminate the room!
(or if you are like me and enjoy well lit spaces just round up to 300 watts and use a dimmer, then you can always adjust the light level for your mood!)

Inside is so delightful

Images from Country Living

The weather outside is frightful, but inside is so delightful- Let is snow! This time of year I hope the shopping is done so I can cozy up inside. This is the perfect interior to snuggle up next to the people you love, drink hot coco and watch Christmas movies. I love the lighting too, it can all be found at Hudson Valley Lighting.

Leg Lamps- A quirky Christmas decoration?

Check out these custom leg lamps made here at Felt Lighting. Leg lamps always remind me of the Christmas movie, A Christmas Story, I want to start chanting "you'll shoot your eye out, you'll shoot your eye out"
These lamps were made with extremely specific details for a customer who no longer wants them. With Christmas just around the corner I thought I would post these and see if there is any interest in these lamps. Please email me if you would like more information or leave any questions as a comment to this post and I will get back with you!

The Wall Sconce is from LBL Lighting, one I have sold many times. I love it's simplicity and it gives off a lot of light which I think is necessary in a bathroom. This bathroom is absolutely stunning, check out more pictures on House of Turquoise.

Hanging works of art

This is a picture of J Crew's new bridal boutique in New York, I love the light fixture!!! Love it, in fact it is so similar to ET2's Cassini, the fixture we all love here in the showroom.

This is exactly what I want my living room to look like, well I think I will do dark hardwood floors- but still very close to what I imagine my living room to look like. I love to use recessed cans in the room and then add a design element as the focal point. It's a work of art hanging right in the middle for everyone to see, and very functional giving off great light.

New Ways to Recycle

The pictures above were from a Alice in Wonderland theme party the floral arrangements were done by Studio Stems, and the Picture was taken by Jason McGrew.
What a great way to use an old chandelier!

Place Cards from Ruffled Blog
All Photo's from Utah Bride and Groom Blog
I saw this last week and thought, that is such a cleaver thing to do with light bulbs. Around here we defiantly have a surplus of extra bulbs that have gone bad, so next time I throw a party I will gut a few and use them as table decor and Place Cards.

Friday's Favorite: LED TAPE

Outdoor Display

Indoor Display

This new LED tape is really something, I have seen endless applications where this double-sticky tape comes in handy. Under cabinet lighting is the most common use for the tape but as you can see in the pictures above it is great for other applications as well. The bulbs are available in red, green, blue, yellow, cool white, warm white and day light options.
It is the lowest profile lighting option I know of currently on the market. It is just like a piece of tape, you clean your surface and stick it where you wan the light, and for such a small unit it gives a surprisingly bright light output! Come check it out in our store I know you will be as impressed as I am when you see it!

As the weather gets cold you can stay warm here...

I can't wait to get into a tub with a fireplace. It's the perfect sanctuary for this time of year when I can't seem to get warm.

Talk about Statement Lighting: Check out the Interior of Elie Saab's home

All Photos from Architectural Digest

Wow! Talk about statement lighting. The first three pictures are from Elie Saab's Paris apartment, and the last picture is from his home in Beirut. The aesthetic is different in the overall feel of the homes but the way he uses lights to make a statement is the same in both. I have to admit I have never seen such large tri-pod floor lamps in all my years in lighting, I love the reflection they make on the ceiling. The same lamp was used again in the bed room and the shade is the same, in a smaller version, over the bar area. I love taking a design element and carrying it throughout the house. Simply Stunning- I love every inch of what I see here! I hope you enjoy!

All Photos From 2010 Dream Home

I got an email today on this Dream Home and wanted to share it with you. Designers in Chicago collaborated to make a temporary Dream home for the Merchandise Mart, the theme is Cool Elegance. Each space was done by a different designer/company. It is likely that buyers will be inspired by these rooms when they make their purchases. I of course can' t get enough of the chandeliers in the foyer and the Dining room, and the soft layered lighting in the bedroom is so calming and elegant!
