I am off to Italy for a few weeks, last time I was there one thing I regret was not taking more pictures of the lighting and decor. So while I am there this time I hope to find some design inspiration and I will take pictures of the gorgeous lighting whenever I can. In other words I hope to bring home some inspiration to share with you all!

I like how refreshing this kitchen is, I have seen a lot of the marble back splash lately and I really like how the counter top is continued into the back splash. It's clean and the movement in the marble keeps it interesting. I have been a fan of these Hudson Valley lights for a long time. The pendants are very popular, I like how they used the flush mounts to give a nice wash of light in the room and used the pendents as ascetic. It's more common to use can lighting and pendants, but I really like the flush mounts.

This is the Rosecliff Mansion in Newport, Rhode Island. Again such breath taking beauty, this is one of the more romantic mansion. It is popular for weddings and anniversary celebrations, notice the heart shaped stair case! The Great Gatsby was filmed here in 1970's, the book by F. Scott Fitzgerald, is one of my favorites, and I loved the movie just as much. It's impossible not to be inspired by the stunning architecture and the elaborate interiors then to top it all off the property looks out to one of the most stunning views of the water I have ever seen!

The Breakers, Newport, Rhode Island

When I was at school in Rhode Island, one of my favorite things to do on the weekend was go to Newport and walk along the cliff and look at all the beautiful mansions. One of the most famous is the the Breakers mansion, as seen above. I am always in awe of the beautifully decorated ceilings and the massive chandeliers that hang from them. I can't imagine what it would be like to live in a place like that, the music room alone is 2400 sq. feet! I could spend hours there looking at all the details and feeling inspired by it's magnificent beauty!
